Question

I would like to know about Prophet Uzayr (as). Is it true that Allah gave him life 100 years after his death?

Answer

This is related to a verse of the Holy Quran where Allah Almighty says:
“Or (did you not see) the person who passed by a town that had collapsed on its roofs. He said: “How shall Allah revive this after it is dead?” so Allah caused him to die for a hundred years. Then brought him back to life. He (Allah) said: “How long did you remain (dead)?” He replied: “I remained for a day or part of a day” Allah said: “Rather, you remained (dead) for a hundred years.” (Surah Baqarah:259)

Scholars have different opinions regarding the man who was mentioned in this verse.
The most well-known opinion is that he was Uzayr.
